Dalai Lama pleads for peace in Tibet

There happens to be some persons who in spite of turmoil and ravages in the surrounding society remain steadfast or better to say are able to cling to their conventional beliefs. In every age you can find these persons who are unusual in every aspect. Nowadays one of them is the revered Dalai Lama, who in spite of the recent turmoil can appeal for peace.

It was only on the last Thursday the internationally acclaimed and venerated spiritual guru made a perfervid appeal to Tibetans over letting the Olympic torch relay move undisturbed. It is to be noted that the very torch is destined to move through Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, in the very next week. He also expressed his full support towards the forthcoming Beijing Olympics.

According to the version in The Australian he stated, "We have fully supported the Olympic Games right from the beginning and the torch is part of that. Over one billion Chinese brothers and sisters feel really proud of that. We should respect that. So, I don't think there will be any trouble."

Dalai Lama is on a five-day visit to Australia where he will meet the topmost brass of the political leadership of the country. It has been learnt that he has already met with federal Opposition Leader Brendan Nelson and is also destined to converse with federal government ministers by the end of this week.

However, he was found to express a lot of hopes about a epochal advancement in the Tibetan stalemate in the coming days. He also said that there might be a prospective conversation between his envoys and the Chinese by the end of this month or in early July.

He also said, "Tibetans retained their unhappiness at the Chinese pressure on their culture and religion. Generations change, but the resentment remains, from parent, to children, to grandchildren. Now I think the Chinese government begins to feel something goes wrong, in spite of putting lots of money, billions of yuan (into developing Tibet)."
